General

What is the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program?  
The MM2H program is a long-term residency initiative by the Malaysian government that allows foreigners to live in Malaysia under a renewable 5, 10, 15, or 20-year Social Visit Pass with multiple entries.
 
I am an Australian and Pakistani citizen but have been working in Singapore for over 20 years. Can I apply for the police report from Singapore?  
Yes, you can apply for the police report from Singapore.
 
I was previously a Malaysian citizen but now hold a German passport. Will this affect my MM2H application?  
No, this will not be an issue. You can apply for MM2H using your German passport.
 
My wife is 50 years old, and I am 48. Can she be the principal applicant to meet the lower financial requirements? Will this impact our approval chances?  
Yes, your wife can be the principal applicant, and this will not affect the chances of approval. Both options are equally valid.
 
I had heart issues in the past, but they have been treated. Will this affect my MM2H application?  
No, this will not be an issue. Health screenings are only required to check for contagious and infectious diseases. Pre-existing medical conditions will not impact your application.
 
Can I withdraw my fixed deposit at any time while staying in Malaysia?  
After obtaining the MM2H visa, you can apply to withdraw 50% of your fixed deposit for the following purposes:
  • Property purchases
  • Children’s education in Malaysia
  • Medical expenses
  • Domestic Travel expenses (All bills must be approved by the Ministry of Tourism. Only after approval can the funds be withdrawn)
You may also withdraw the full amount if you choose to cancel your MM2H visa.
 
Can I place the fixed deposit in a Malaysian bank located in my home country?  
No, the fixed deposit must be placed in a bank or financial institution within Malaysia.
 
If I purchase a house in Malaysia worth over RM1,000,000, does it count toward the financial requirements of MM2H?  
No, purchasing property does not replace the fixed deposit requirement. Both are mandatory under the MM2H program.
 
Do I need to travel to Malaysia for visa stamping and processing?  
Yes, you must visit Malaysia for visa endorsement after approval. However, if you are already in Malaysia but outside Kuala Lumpur, you can courier your passport and transfer the necessary fees to our office for processing.
 
What are the benefits of applying for MM2H?  
After applying for MM2H, you can reside in Malaysia long-term without the need to leave the country every 30 days and re-enter.
 
If my MM2H application is rejected, will the deposit be refunded?  
If your application is rejected, we will refund half of the deposit.
 
Can I apply for MM2H on my own?  
No, you must apply through an officially certified Malaysian agent.
 
How many children can an MM2H applicant bring to Malaysia?  
There is no limit, but certain conditions must be met:
  • Unmarried children under 21 years old
  • Unmarried children aged 21-34 who are financially dependent on their parents
  • Children with disabilities have no age limit
 
When renewing the 10 years MM2H visa, do clients need to provide a bank deposit certificate?  
Yes, for MM2H renewal, clients must provide proof of fixed deposit, a medical examination report, and proof of medical insurance coverage.
 
Can a Chinese MM2H holder bring their Indian domestic helper to Malaysia? The helper is 56 years old and has worked for me for over 10 years.  
Except for the Platinum category, other MM2H categories do not allow domestic helpers to enter Malaysia. Platinum category applicants can bring one domestic helper from their home country or a Malaysian-approved country (such as India), provided the helper is between 21 and 45 years old.
 
After living in Malaysia for 10 years, can I apply for Malaysian citizenship (passport) in addition to my German passport?  
No, Malaysia does not allow dual citizenship.
 
Can MM2H holders work in Malaysia?  
The MM2H visa itself does not permit employment; a separate work permit must be applied for.
 

House Purchase

Can I purchase one residential property for living and one commercial property for rental?  
MM2H holders can purchase commercial properties, and there are no restrictions under the MM2H program regarding this. However, please note that commercial properties cannot be used to meet the MM2H property requirement, which specifically requires residential property.
 
Are foreigners only allowed to purchase new properties from developers, or can they buy second-hand or third-hand properties owned by individuals?  
Participants can purchase any type of residential property as long as it has obtained the CF (Certificate of Fitness for Occupation).
 
If an MM2H applicant already owns property in Malaysia, do they still need to purchase another property?  
No, but the existing property must meet MM2H's relevant requirements.
 
Can MM2H holders sell the property tied to their MM2H program?  
Applicants must hold the property for at least 10 years or purchase a higher-value property before selling the original one.
 

Investment

If the client purchases a Johor property in which the value is only RM500K, can he use this property to withdraw FD(RM300K)? please advise?  
Yes, MM2H participants are allowed to withdraw partial of the required Fixed Deposit from the second year onwards (RM150,000 for aged 50 years and below) for approved expenses related to house purchase. They have to maintain the balanced RM150,000 (for aged 50 years and below) of Fixed Deposit until they terminate from MM2H Programmed.
 
If you have the 300k capital but don't earn 10k per month can you still apply for MM2H?  
There is no need to provide proof of income when applying for MM2H. If the applicant is employed by a company, an employer’s letter is required. If the applicant is retired, proof of fixed deposit or other investments must be provided.
 
My last 3 months salary statement should be above RM10,000 per month, right?  
Yes latest 3 months.
 
RM500,000 liquid funds needed to show in my foreign account, right?  
Yes, any bank account is fine as long as under main applicant name or combine husband and wife name.
